Around 200 people participated in the free health screening offered by Hospital da Misericórdia de Évora , last December 14, at Centro Comercial Évora Plaza. Throughout the day, a team of nurses from this hospital performed evaluations of indicators, such as blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), capillary glycemia and blood oxygen saturation . Of the total of participants (81 males and 119 females, aged between 14 and 84), a high percentage (81 individuals) presented an increase of BMI and 14 had medicated but uncontrolled hypertension . The great majority showed no alteration in the parameters evaluated, while some cases were referred to consultations of Cardiology, Pulmonology, Internal Medicine and Nutrition. The initiative – “Celebrating Christmas in Health” – was organized by a team integrating nurses Cláudia Faustino, Eduardo Fernandes, Graça Santana, João Santos, Rita Leão and Teresa Mendes.
